aftercare - scalp micropigmentation (smp)

...TRUST THE PROCESS...

It is important to carefully follow the post-care instructions after all SMP procedures.

Results cannot be determined until your final touch up application is completed and healed.
Adjustments are made along the way. We’ll adjust the colour and increase the density each procedure.
The process is intentionally slow ensure proper shading and density are used that best work for you and your scalp. We can always add more SMP impressions.

Inspect your new look in-between sessions. Make notes of any adjustments you wish to make on your next session.
If you are mid process make sure to book your next appointment in a timeframe recommended.

- Do not touch the pigmented area with your fingers as to not spread bacteria and avoid infection.

- Do not wear a hat immediately after the procedure.

- For the first 4 days avoid washing your head with soap. Using a light patting motion, YOU MAY USE WATER TO GENTLY RINSE THE TATTOOED AREA. USE LUKEWARM WATER ONLY.

- On the fifth day, gently wash your head with an unscented soap. Gently pat the soap into the area and avoid any vigorous motions and rubbing on the tattooed area. Wash off with lukewarm water and gently pat your skin dry.
-Do not rub or traumatize the pigmented area while it is healing, pigment may be removed along with the crusting tissue.

- For 7-10 days, absolutely NO:

- To prevent future premature fading of pigment, it is highly recommended to use a “total sun block” on the scalp when exposed to the sun.

- Do not use products that contain AHA's on the procedure area. (Example: Glycolic or Lactic Acids and always check product labels) these will fade your colour.

- If you are a blood donor, you may not give blood for 1 year following your cosmetic make-up application (per Red Cross).

- Apply a very light layer aftercare ointment 3-5 times daily until the pigmented area is healed. Use a clean cotton swab and not your fingertips. If you are experiencing any itching, swelling, blistering, or any other complication post-procedure, stop using the product and call your SMP specialist immediately. You may be reacting to the aftercare product you are using.
